Here we go

This past week was more of trying to understand what is expected of us. Was attached to psychiatry (psych) dept and all we did was a few activities such as creative therapy...uhmm which is a different approach to counselling, makes one understand what is going on, on the inside and offers a safe place to explore feelings in a creative way. Btw made 2 flowers with paper :) *such fun thing to do*.
Met up with patients diagnosed with all sort of crazies disorders, but a very interesting one was a guy who was referred to us with narcissistic personality disorder but refuses to accept it and is willing to sue a government (not the Hungarian govt tho) for misdiagnosing him lol. The interesting thing about psych is that most of the people we are in contact with lack the insight to the disorder.

Did you know that everyone we come across even ourselves can be diagnosed with a mental disorder? My friend, its true. The reason we are not in psych ward is cause there are different classes to mental disorder:
Axis 1: these are people who show the clinical syndromes (mood changes, schizophrenia, anxiety disorder etc)
Axis 2: those with personality disorder and mental retardation
Axis 3: those with any general medical condition
Axis 4: those affected by psychosocial and environmental problems (divorce, death of a loved one)
There you have it, the different classes. Most people with axis 1 are usually admitted.

Also attended a group therapy session, an interactive program for the hospital staffs and the patients, spoke about treatment regimens and many other things I guess. The funny thing about this session is the spoken language is hungarian and as I will have it my hungarian knowledge is far from perfect, so when they laughed I laughed lol, it became really boring and on a normal day I should have walked out but its unacceptable to walk out during sessions most especially in psych dept...endured an hour of torture. X_X

TGIW(weekend): should be getting my groove study on, have about a hundred topics to go before my final in 4 weeks. *fun*

What is narcissistic personality disorder? A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (uncommon largeness), need for admiration, manipulative & also lacks empathy. *self centered*

Yours truly
Mee :-)
